The New Apple Business

In mid April, Apple Business Manager and Essentials became Apple Business. It’s got a new name and some fancy new tools, but its purpose remains the same: To help your business get the most out of Apple technology. The revamped Apple Business app includes a directory of everyone in your organization, Apple Vision support, and tons of other upgrades in addition to everything you loved from Apple Business Manager and Essentials. Apple has announced more features soon to come, including the ability for businesses to advertise locally with Apple Maps ads.

Mac mini and Mac Studio Hit By Supply Shortage

Been saving up for that new Mac mini or Mac Studio? Well, it sucks to be you. Thanks to an industry wide supply shortage of the nodes and memory components these devices rely on, CEO Tim Cook said on a recent quarterly earnings call Apple expects it’ll be several months before they’re able to consistently keep Mac mini and Mac Studio models in stock.

Cook attributed the high demand for Mac mini and Mac Studio to the same technology causing the material shortage that makes these devices so hard to produce: AI. According to Tim Cook, Mac mini and Mac Studio are “amazing platforms” to use AI tools, which has led to “higher than expected demand” for the new models. AI tools like the ones Cook is referring to require a lot of memory—as a result, companies like OpenAI have been purchasing more and more memory chips in their attempts to stay ahead in the AI race. As a result, RAM is more expensive, harder to come by, and even tech giants like Apple are starting to feel the strain.
