Apple Raises Prices Among RAM Shortage

The ongoing RAM shortage is continuing to drive costs sky high. On June 25th, Apple raised prices on tons of Mac and iPad models. Just a week before the change, Tim Cook specifically cited the RAM shortage—caused by the current AI boom—as the reason for the “unavoidable” price increases. This isn’t an Apple specific issue. As AI companies race to build more data centers, RAM is getting harder and harder to come by, worsening the supply shortage and driving costs even higher for tech companies across the board.

Don’t be caught unaware in the event of another price hike. Ongoing issues in the supply chain could lead to another price increase or cause a device shortage like we recently saw with the Mac Mini. If your office needs a refresh, order the new equipment you need right away.

Never Run This In Your Mac Terminal

This Mac-specific malware, nicknamed “DigiStealer” by cybersecurity researchers, first accesses your device by posing as a file from the legitimate app “DynamicLake.” DigiStealer instructs you to drag a file into your Mac Terminal. Once you do, it will download malicious code into your hard drive designed to steal your personal documents and attack your servers, leaving little to no trace in the process.

Caution and preparation are the best defense against threats like this. On top of choosing a reliable anti-malware solution, making sure to only download apps from trustworthy sources will help you avoid common malware attacks. Most importantly, remember giving any non-Apple software access to your Terminal is extremely risky—just don’t do it without talking to us.

Worried your Mac may have been exposed to malware? Contact Favarger Consulting. After we make sure your device is secure, our team can walk you through choosing a reliable anti-malware solution to help prevent future catastrophe.
